Not that I haven't LOVED dressing Josiah. When I was having baby showers and when he was a newborn, lots of people made comments about hopefully I would have a girl someday and have the fun of dressing her. But now those comments puzzle me because, turns out, clothes for little boys are ridiculously cute. And I still get pains in my heart when I see Josiah in a particularly handsome little outfit.
But now I get to venture into this world!

Not that picking out baby girl clothes goes without its challenges.
For one thing, I am having to re-train my eyes to even notice the girl clothes. This week we went to Carter's specifically for me to find a "coming home from the hospital" outfit for baby girl, and I kept finding myself drawn to the boy clothes for Josiah!

Secondly, I have to say that I DO NOT LIKE about 85% of what I see in the stores for baby girls. I don't even really know how to put into words what I don't like about it - too much pink, too much cutsie, too many frills. It's all probably just in my head. Because the things I DO like are pretty cute and frilly, if I am honest.

I don't think it makes sense to spend a ton of money on baby clothes when they wear them for such a short time. Nor do I need my kiddo to be an absolute fashion plate. In fact, when kids clothes get too fashionable, I get the heebie jeebies. One things kids do NOT need is early exposure to vanity and consumerism!
BUT, I also can't stand to dress my kids in ugly clothes.

You are soooo right. It frustrates me that most baby girl clothes are PINK! We have loving relatives and friends who gift us many clothes, which we are grateful for, but whenever I have a say, I always try to choose outfits in green, orange, brown, purple, red, etc. Girls look pretty in lots of colors!
Exactly! I am not even opposed to pink! In fact, the outfit I finally settled on for baby girl at Carter's is pink! I just can't handle when it is all too precious. And I also don't care for baby girl clothes that adopt the worst aspects of adult women's clothes. I am most looking forward to colorful dresses - feminine and modest and fun!
We have 3 girls and with all of them, avoided pink as much as we could. Which meant that pink was still amply represented (can't avoid it totally in gifts, hand-me-downs, etc.), but at least it wasn't primary.
I have NEVER been a pink girl myself, so I can totally relate to not wanting to dress my daughter in frilly pink! We love little hip squeaks on etsy but I have to admit consignment stores and thrifting has been THE best.. I buy up anything gap and old navy I see! Oh and h and m Looovee h &m! Glad we found each other ill be following :-)

I haven't even checked H&M yet - I think only one of the ones in our area have baby/kid clothes. Good suggestion!!!
