Thankful Tuesdays Intro

I would maintain that thanks are the highest form of thought, and that gratitude is happiness doubled by wonder.  {G.K. Chesterton}
This past November, along with a number of my friends, I participated in that grand ye olde tradition on ye olde Facebooke, Month of Gratitude, wherein I posted something I was grateful each day of the month. Some days it turned out to be a very important exercise, as it was the one thing that kept me from slipping into the depths of self-pitied misery.

As such, I've decided to try participating in a weekly linkup hosted by one of my favorite bloggers - Mama:Monk, aka Micha Boyett.

  • For karate chops and roundhouse kicks that I now get on a continual basis from baby girl. Feeling the baby move is the BEST part of being pregnant, and what I will miss the most.
  • For the moments when Josiah shows me spontaneous affection. His hugs and kisses and snuggles are a balm to my soul.
  • For staying up too late talking and sharing ideas with my best friend, my husband.
  • For Costco. I may end up being thankful for Costco every week. If you haven't picked up on it yet, I have an intense love for Costco.
  • For days when I feel comfortable in my skin. They are by no means every day, and I guess it would be even better to be completely forgetful of myself...but until that happens, I am grateful for days when my dominant emotion towards myself is NOT disgust.
  • For the movie Elf.
  • For the people in my life who are loving and gentle with me.
  • For little escapes into a good book (right now, A Clash of Kings) or a good TV show (lately, Friday Night Lights).
  • That Light has come into the world, and that I have the hope and confidence that the Light will win out over the darkness. That the Light will come again and put all things to right, and there will be no more tears and no more sorrow.

What are you thankful for this week?

  1. Great list of Thankfuls. We love Elf too. Sweet and cute and funny. Here's to spontaneous snuggles, gentle friends, and Costco. (Also, syrup in coffee.)

  2. I'm thankful for health, after spending much of the last month fighting one sort of virus or another. Also thankful for good books, especially the recent discovery of Daniel Abraham's writing. He's an author recommended by both George R.R. Martin and Patrick Rothfuss - two other authors whose writing and thoughts about writing I've appreciated over the last year or two. Hope you are enjoying Clash of Kings.

  3. okay, I had nearly 300 blog posts in my reader to catch up on. :) So I'm late to your last few posts but, YES, isn't FNL SOOOO good? I just love any discussion between Coach and Tammy Taylor.
